Laura Demir is a Student Academic Advisor for the Media Studies program and advises intended and declared students in the major.
Laura advises students in-person and remotely via appointment, drop-in advising, and email.

Special Summer 2026 Notes:
* As of Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Media Studies Program Offices is located in the new Undergraduate Academic Building (UAB). Read Media Studies Location Change, which includes directions.
* Laura Demir is out of the office from Thursday, July 2nd through Thursday, July 23rd. Drop-in advising will resume on Monday, July 27th. Scheduled appointments will resume on Tuesday, July 28th. Appointments roll out a week at a time so appointments on Tuesday, July 28th will appear one week in advance on https://laura-demir.youcanbook.me/.
* The University is closed on Friday, July 3rd, a University Holiday.
Scheduled Appointments
Scheduled appointments are one-on-one sessions to talk about things like the Media Studies major, program planning, adding majors and minors, enrichment opportunities, and other topics that require more time.
Students can book one week in advance of appointment and may choose in-person or Zoom for location. Since appointments are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, new appointments for the next week should appear on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Appointments begin at the scheduled start time, not Berkeley time.

*During the summer, Tuesday and Wednesday appointments may be in-person or via Zoom unless notified otherwise after scheduling. Thursday appointments will be via Zoom.

Drop-in Advising*
Drop-In Advising is a great way to meet with advisors when you have a time-sensitive question or one to a few quick questions.
During the summer all drop-in advising is via Zoom, not in-person. To access remote drop-in, please follow the links below to visit my Drop-in Advising Zoom Room. Note that the Zoom meeting room will only be open during the hours listed. Upon entering, students will be placed in a waiting room and allowed into the meeting room in the order that they enter. Have your Student ID# and questions ready! Be mindful that other students may be waiting.
